There is no obsolescence felt more acutely (at least by me) than the obsolescence of the landline telephone. Once considered a revolution in telecommunication it was a very short-lived one. Recently the landline was replaced by a digital factotum; a much less charming device, a much less endearing than old faithful growth at the junction of our opposable thumbs no longer capable of touching the other digits on the same hand. Modern tech has it's pros and E-waste is not one of them. Let alone the lost joy of hearing the phone ring in the hallway, lounge room or kitchen; tethered to the wall talking to friends, making prank calls on a Friday night sleepover. This synth-pop-ode is for anyone who misses their old telling bone. Like I desperately do mine.
